Werner Thomas Ludwig Freiherr von Fritsch was born on 4 August
1880 in Benrath and was a serving member of the Heer during
World War II and managed to attain the rank of Generaloberst
on 20 April 1936 and went on to command the following 12th
Artillery Regiment during the Invasion of Poland.
On 22 September 1939, in Praga during the Siege of Warsaw,
a bullet tore an artery in his leg and he bled to death within
a few minutes. The state funeral took place at the Heroes
Memorial Hall in Berlin on 25 September 1939.
