History

The 30 mm SG 116 (30 mm Sonder Gerät 116) was a recoilless cannon designed produced by Rheinmetall-Borsig in 1944. The 30 mm SG 116 was a modified version of the 30 mm MK 103, and was designed so that Luftwaffe pilots could engage bomber formations by flying underneath.
The 30 mm SG 116 was arranged in the following configurations, four pieces in rhombic shape in the trunk, six pieces in two or three triangle pieces in line with the fuselage side with a Spreitzung of 2 degrees.
The weapon was triggered with a photoelectric cell, which was manufactured by Opta-Radio.
The 30 mm SG 116 underwent extensive testing at Rechlin Lutwaffe facilities in late 1944 with a Fw 190
