The Panzerfähre or self-propelled gepanzerte Landwasserschlepper II (LWS II) or abbreviated to Pz.F.

And was ordered by Heereswaffenamt as a replacement for Landwasserschlepper (LWS) the new variant was developed by Magirus and incorporated some improvements e.g. was lightly armoured and had a lower profile. It's running gear was based on the Panzer IV two prototypes were delivered in the middle of 1942.
